Móðguðr (peut-être « combat furieux ») est la jeune fille gardienne de Gjallarbrú, le pont qui mène à l'autre monde.

Elle apparaît dans le récit de la chevauchée de Hermóðr à Hel pour délivrer Baldr (Gylfaginning, ch. 49). Après l'avoir interrogé sur son nom, sa lignée, et les raisons de sa présence, lui qui n'est pas mort, elle l'informe que Baldr a déjà franchi le pont, et lui indique le chemin de Hel, en bas et au nord.

Analysant son rôle, John Lindow estime que : « Módgud fills to some extent the epic role of one who challenges the hero upon arrival, often near a body of water, but she also functions as a donor figure here by giving Hermód the information he needs. She thus seems to have more a narrative than a mythic or religious function¹».
